The Church of the Holy Martyrs Adrian and Natalia

45, Naberezhnaya street, Krasnoselsky District, historical district of Staro-Panovo

This church is a monument to all the dead and missing in the defence of Leningrad

The historical church built at the beginning of the 19th century was completely destroyed during the Great Patriotic War. One of the residents of Staro-Panovo, Antonina Petrovna Osipovna, who survived the tough wartime years, could not accept the loss of the historical church so beloved by all residents of the district. She decided to restore the church at all costs and she made it her life-work. Antonina Petrovna was able to start implementing her plan only in the 1990s, when she became an elected deputy of the Krasnoselsky district Council. In 1993, the church parish was registered and Antonina Petrovna became the leader of the parish as the Chairman of the Parish Council. Obviously, there were a lot of difficulties, but nowadays the church is being attended by parishioners, internal decoration and painting are being completed, the process of land improvement is in full swing. This territory will soon turn into a memorial park.

It is noteworthy that the church was built exclusively with public donations and the help of a few benefactors in the complete absence of State funding. It is an incredibly touching story about love for the Homeland, its history and, of course, God, about love that united so many people.
