Visiting history: the best memorial museum-apartment of St. Petersburg

The memorial museum-apartment of A.S.Pushkin is the poet's last dwelling. The sofa on which Alexander Sergeevich spent his last days, the mantel clock, stopped at 2:45 p.m., at the time of the poet`s death, his vest with traces of his blood, reminiscent of the tragic duel, are on display. The huge Pushkin`s library has been recreated with the help of duplet originals. Special attention should be paid to the desk at which Alexander Sergeevich once worked, and personal belongings laid out on it: a pipe, a pen and a bronze inkwell with a figurine of an Arab girl, presented by Pavel Nashchokin.

The museum apartment of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov maintains the atmosphere of creativity, created by the great composer. Weekly chamber concerts and musical matinees for children are held there. The exposition presents authentic household items of the XIX century, personal belongings and manuscripts of the composer. The museum offers interactive educational programs that introduce the history of the Rimsky-Korsakov family, musical characters and friends of the composer.

The M.M. Zoshchenko Memorial Museum is located in the apartment where the writer stayed during his final years: from 1954 to 1958. Currently, the museum is actively creative: it participates in city festivals, presents exhibitions and lecture projects, invites visitors to  meetings within the framework of the Literary Environment project. The museum constantly develops engaging programs on literature of the XXth century for children and teenagers.

The Vladimir Nabokov Museum is located on the ground floor of the building that belonged to the writer's family before the revolution and emigration from Russia. The exhibition presents the writer's personal belongings, as well as a large collection of first editions of his books. Lectures and master classes are regularly held here, and new temporary exhibitions are opening every season.
